After a huge success in Senegal and Gambia, Dieuf-Dieul de Thiès suddenly split up after 4 years in 1983. Re-formed in 2015, the group embarked on its first 2 European tours in 2017. Today, the story continues with the release of their first studio album on BUDA MUSIQUE, followed by a European tour in 2025. The band has waited 40 years to finally have their work engraved for posterity. They are undoubtedly one of the last groups still active from the late 70s, from that great period of African amplified orchestras. On record and live, the tracks expand, the sounds of fuzz guitars blending with brass and percussion to produce an explosively psychedelic mix.

August 2024 round-up ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“The eponymous British debut by Senegalese band Dieuf-Dieul de Thiès might find its closest comparison would be a rather brassy and extra percussive version of the well known compatriots Orchestra Baobab, whose classic “On Verra Ca” they even seem to quote on “Alin Na Djibé” – one of two live songs that conclude this “Afro mandingo” album. A great record for lovers of sax, trombone, electric guitars and even students of Senegal’s indigenous luigua franca-Wolof. It would also be a good party starter. Wow, wow, or “Yeah, yeah”!, as they say in Wolof. (Buda 860390)”
