ADAMA DRAMÉ – SOLO
A DJEMBE VIRTUOSO, ADAMA DRAMÉ ASSERTS HIS AFRICAN IDENTITY AND HIS LOYALTY TO TRADITION THROUGH HIS MUSIC, HIS COMPOSITIONS, HIS RHYTHMS AND HIS IMPROVISATIONS.
Adama Dramé was born in Nouna, Burkina-Faso, in 1954. He is the sixth generation of a family of musicians and griot storytellers from the Malinké culture. He became a professional at the age of twelve thanks to his father, a griot Djéli from father to son.
In 1978, he was one of the first djembéfolas to play in Europe and introducing the world to his culture, his history and his talent, which has since become mythical. This master of the djembe knows the rhythms of West Africa to perfection. He has also found his place in contemporary music and jazz, and combines his rhythms with those of other traditions. Adama Dramé is the only djembefola in the world to play a one-hour solo concert, which he has been performing for 25 years on the world’s greatest stages!
